Opportunity summary

External Advisors provide Enroute with specialist expertise in transport or managerial fields such as IT, HR, or legal matters. While they are not classified as internal staff, they act as trusted experts whom the Enroute team may consult for advice and insights to support the organisation’s development and initiatives.

This is an informal, voluntary role with no contractual obligations or liabilities for the advice provided.

This role offers a great opportunity to use your expertise to support a growing transport research and advocacy organisation while remaining flexible to your availability.

Opportunity specifics

There is no time commitment associated with this position, however, you may optionally be asked to engage with particular pieces of work that you hold experience in.

This role does not come with or have the option for additional line management responsibility, as you do not sit within the organisation as an operational staff member.

There is no role duration specified for this position.

As you do not sit within the Enroute operational team, there are no restrictions on time away.

You may be invited to particular meetings or events that could be of relevance to you and Enroute. You may also be invited to our internal social events which are completely optional.

There are no regular financial benefits associated with this position, and external advisors are unable to claim expenses as they sit outside of the organisation itself.

  • Offer guidance and expert insights in your area of specialism to support Enroute’s work.
  • Provide advice or feedback primarily via email, with occasional video calls or in-person meetings when appropriate.
  • Optionally contribute to specific tasks on an ad-hoc basis if desired.
  • There are no set workload expectations; advisors contribute as and when they are available.
  • Advisors will receive Enroute’s internal newsletter to stay informed about ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • We periodically review our register of External Advisors and may adjust our network based on organisational needs or in cases of prolonged inactivity.
