Interests
David is particularly interested in capacity constraints on the rail network, having spent many afternoons on his way home from school waiting for delayed trains on Platform 13 at Manchester Piccadilly. He is also a close follower of political developments around the railway, plans for high-speed rail (including Northern Powerhouse Rail), and has written on the cunning politics of the Restoring Your Railway programme. He can usually be found somewhere on the Trans-Pennine route, or on his way to Hungary by train.
He has amassed over 12,000 subscribers on YouTube, having produced videos over the years documenting his travels, interesting railways he’s visited, and news and commentary on the rail industry. His most popular video documents the history and geography of the transport network of a divided Berlin. His channel has been quiet in recent years, though he plans to return to it in the future.
