An update on Enroute, and our donation request

To whomever it may concern,

As a supporter of Enroute, I am reaching out to you to give you an update on our progress since our launch in December 2023, replacing our predecessor Sustainable Transport Midlands.

We embarked on a mission to drive meaningful change in the UK transport sector through research, collaboration, and advocacy. Our core focus remains to promote investment in, and usage of, sustainable transport options, such as active travel and public transport across Great Britain.

Our vision? A future where sustainable transport thrives throughout England, Wales, and Scotland, becoming the norm for everyday journeys. We envision a society with environmentally responsible, economically viable, and socially equitable transport networks, fostering healthier and more vibrant communities.

Since our launch, we haven’t wasted a moment on achieving these core aims. Here are some highlights:

  • We have published five impactful research pieces:
    • Restoring your Railway: Promises vs Progress in Northumberland and Nottinghamshire
    • On track to regional transformation: Promises vs Progress in Northumberland and Northamptonshire
    • Tapping into progress: Reimagining sustainable transport with an intermodal ticketing revolution
    • Two towns, multiple approaches: Observations from Daventry and Rushden
    • Who is really in the driving seat? Weighing up British bus operation

Following our research into British bus operation, West Yorkshire Combined Authority announced plans for a franchised bus network, and Greater Manchester’s Bee Network expanded its franchising efforts.

  • Shared our expertise: We submitted a response to the Rail and Urban Transport Review Call for Evidence, outlining our vision for a sustainable transport future in Great Britain.
  • Forged strong partnerships: Enroute has built valuable relationships with decision-makers, campaign groups and advocates such as North on Track and Bring Back Euro Trains, with plans for joint initiatives.
  • Growing our voice: Our engaging blog features insightful contributions from our team, and we have exciting plans for new blog series’, featuring both internal and guest writers.

All of these activities are made possible by our passionate team of volunteers, which is steadily expanding. However, this growth comes with increased costs, particularly in auxiliary functions like IT services and infrastructure. In our most recent financial period, Enroute Group CIC spent the most on IT infrastructure, and this number will continue to rise as we welcome more volunteers.

This is where you come in. As a valued supporter of Enroute, we are reaching out to kindly request your donation where possible to fuel our ongoing efforts. This could come in many different forms:

  • A one-off donation of any amount.
  • A recurring donation, choosing between our pre-set amounts of £5, £10, £15, £20, £25 or £50 per month, manageable through our automated online dashboard.
  • If you prefer a different arrangement, such as a custom monthly amount or a direct debit setup, please feel free to contact me directly on Harry.Burr@enroutecic.com. I’ll be more than happy to help you with anything, including the above.

Every contribution, big or small, will empower us to continue pushing for a sustainable transport future. Donate through our website here: https://enroutecic.com/donate/

Thank you for your continued support!

For and on behalf of the Enroute team,

Harry Burr  |  Joint Chief Executive
